Re: 2024-25 NFL/Seahawks Season Thread
A few observations on the Seahawks’ 2024 draft selections. This year the Seahawks had one 1st round pick, but no 2nd round picks. They had lost their 2nd round pick when they traded with the Giants last season for DE/DT Leonard Williams, who was re-signed with a big contract. So, after their 1st rou...

Re: 2024-25 NFL/Seahawks Season Thread
Some notable Seahawks signings in free agency. What follows is not all of the signings, just what appear to be the most relevant. On defense (where the need was the greatest), the Seahawks signed two new linebackers to take the place of Bobby Wagner and Jordan Brooks, both lost to other teams. They ...

Re: 2024-25 NFL/Seahawks Season Thread
Just a quick update on the Russell Wilson story. He has now signed with the Steelers, but the bigger news in Steel Town is their letting the 2023 starter, Kenny Pickett, go--to the Eagles to back up Jalen Hurts. This is a surprise and goes against the "Steeler Way" of patience with their h...

Re: 2024-25 NFL/Seahawks Season Thread
Free agency in the NFL begins today, and there have already been a lot of surprising moves--starters moving to new teams, like Saquon Barkley to the Eagles and Kirk Cousins to the Falcons, among many such first-day transactions. One move of interest is Russell Wilson to the Steelers--as their presum...

Re: 2024-25 NFL/Seahawks Season Thread
The player rebuild begins in Seattle. Today three players were cut--safeties Jamal Adams and Quandre Diggs, and tight end Will Dissly. https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/39659937/seahawks-releasing-safeties-jamal-adams-quandre-diggs The release of Adams has been expected. He came to the 'Hawks in a...

Re: Rourke now a NE Patriot
According to NFL Network insider Tom Pelissero, New England is re-signing Rourke before he becomes a free agent. Yes, B.C. Fan, I just read that (link below). Unlike when he went to the Jaguars who had a high-quality starting quarterback, he will now be with a team with two mediocre QBs--Mac Jones ...

Re: 2024-25 NFL/Seahawks Season Thread
Here is Peter King's Football Morning in America (FMIA) column for this week. After writing this piece every week for the last 27 years, King announces his retirement, and so this will be his last edition of FMIA, This is really a shame, as King's depth of knowledge about the NFL is absolutely unmat...

2024-25 NFL/Seahawks Season Thread
With all the 2023-24 football over now, and the NFL Combine coming up next week, it's a good time to turn the calendar to the upcoming season. The big news for the Seahawks is the almost-complete turnover in the coaching staff--new HC, OC, DC, and many position coaches. The hiring decisions in Seatt...

Re: 2023-24 NFL/Seahawks Season Thread
Too bad that the Kansas City Chiefs celebration parade was marred by a mass shooting killng 1 and injuring at least 21 others. Gunmen were 2 juveniles. Yeah, Robbie. It apparently started by some guy looking at another guy the wrong way! Can you believe it? Here's the story: https://www.nbcsports.c...

Re: 2023-24 NFL/Seahawks Season Thread
As a diehard Seahawks fan (most of whom hate the 49ers with a passion!), I'm surprised to have felt this way, but I was hoping for a 49ers win. I don't think dynasties are generally a good thing for the sport, but it looks as if we might have one with the Chiefs.

Re: 2023-24 NFL/Seahawks Season Thread
It was a good game. Lots of back and forth. It could be (and has been) argued that the 49ers were the stronger team overall on paper, but clearly not at the most important position, quarterback. Patrick Mahomes was his usual brilliant self when he needed to be (like going 8 for 8 on the game-winning...

Re: 2023-24 NFL/Seahawks Season Thread
Well, here's the answer to the query I raised in the preceding post--whether TV viewership picked up with the new Pro Bowl format. It didn't. In fact, it dropped by 8.5% over last year's Pro Bowl viewership, which is a pretty significant downturn. https://www.nbcsports.com/nfl/profootballtalk/rumor-...

Re: 2023-24 NFL/Seahawks Season Thread
What I'd say has been worse as opposed to better in the NFL in recent years is the Pro Bowl. Starting 2023, it is now a non-contact flag football game. I do miss the old AFC vs. NFC games in which the players actually took it seriously. They went away from the previous AFC vs NFC game format becaus...
