Re: Riders vs. Lions July 10 Game Day Thread

Are the Lions actually going to penalize themselves out of field goal range?

Re: Riders vs. Lions July 10 Game Day Thread

Good touchdown and 2-point conversion, though. Is there life. If so, they haven't deserved it.

Re: Riders vs. Lions July 10 Game Day Thread

CAN'T AVOID COMMITTING A STUPID PENALTY, EXTENDING A DRIVE WHICH WAS DEAD. FIVE DEFENDERS CANNOT MAKE A SIMPLE TACKLE. THIS TEAM IS A JOKE.

The Lions would have been way better off just letting the Riders score when there was 3:20 still on the clock

Re: Riders vs. Lions July 10 Game Day Thread

So far, I am seeing the exact same Lions team we have been seeing for the last few years: the Lions are playing a team that is doing absolutely nothing and yet the Lions are permitting that team to stay in the game (and eventually take the lead) because they just cannot score when they are in the re...

Re: 22,000 sold for home opener

Things aren't going to improve in B.C. until Braley sells that team. He has no vision or long-term plan for the Lions and, while you can blame Skulsky all you want, the buck ultimately stops with Braley. The future looks much brighter in Toronto without Braley. A sale of the Lions is what is needed...

Re: Rogers NHL contract & the CFL on TSN....

Does anyone have a well-informed idea how much extra revenue TSN might generate per season if a tenth franchise was added to Atlantic Canada, creating a 10-team league that stretched across the country from coast to coast, attracting potentially hundreds of thousands of new viewers from an untapped ...

Re: Riders vs. Lions, October 4th - Attendance/Seating

The NASL folded after two seasons in BCP. MLS is on better footing today. Which is completely irrelevant to the point. The point is that during their two years at BC Place, the Whitecaps attracted substantially more fans than they do today. Yet the Lions' attendance did not suffer during those year...

Which is precisely my point: the Lions are losing that competition.

Re: Riders vs. Lions, October 4th - Attendance/Seating

But you also have to consider that much of our pop growth is via immigration from cultures where our game is unknown. First, Vancouver has always been a city of immigrants and the Lions don't face a challenge today that they didn't face in the past. Secondly, the same applies to hockey but the Canu...

Re: Riders vs. Lions, October 4th - Attendance/Seating

Also, look at the bite that MLS is putting into the entertainment dollar. So what? The era in which the Lions' average attendance was at its highest is also the era in which the Whitecaps were at the height of their popularity and were getting an average attendance of around 30,000 (which is ten th...

Re: Riders vs. Lions, October 4th - Attendance/Seating

Did you take into consideration that availability of HD and just how many more fans are tuned into the local game than previously? Of course. Which underscores my point even further. The Lions have more exposure today than they have ever had before. Yet attendance has failed to grow or even keep pa...

Re: Riders vs. Lions, October 4th - Attendance/Seating

Apparently, BC Place was built, in part, to attract a Major League Baseball franchise. I disagree with your reasoning that since there were many seasons in the past in which average attendance was similar to what it is now, the organization is not substantially underperforming today. Compared to som...
